Dar es salaam has seen quite alot of different dance styles in the past fews years; some were really something to remember for years to come. Lets go through some of the really cool ones that were/are a talking point in the great city of Dar es salaam, here's a top 10.
1.) Kiduku
This was indeed a style for the kids as it was extremely difficult for an adult to perform the incredible stunt of a dance; nevertheless, nightclubs in Dar saw quite alot of this dance style being perfromed although it is now a gonner. The trick to this dance was to twist your ankles, knees, back and wrists in a uniquely choreographed manner to attain an astonishing combination of movements. The dance is supposedly banned in the city, but that is proving to be very difficult as the majority of the low income residents of Dar insist on having their good time undisturbed! It is indeed a source of pleasure for anyone willing to enjoy it, but we cannot escape the fact that this practice is a major source of moral decadence within the city. Mildly erotic and slightly resembling the 'Kigodoro' category, it was indeed and possibly still is truely a sensation. The basic move in this dance style is to simply scrub your heel on a rock while ensuring your waist and its attachents are swaying gracefully! sounds easy right, check out the video.

The dance is done in a group of up to 10 or more depending on the available space, the trick is to move together in a well choreographed fashion to attain a very pleasant continuous and repetitive rythm that would leave you breathless!
